The Excommunication of Osun
HIGH CONCEPT
Atlantis was an island with a size equal to the size of Australia today. Many ethnic divisions exist there as we have today.
The power structure that endorses the rulership of Atlantis was matriarchal but only men had the ruling power. A group of women formed a revolt against this system and were regarded as “Oge” by the right wingers of the system. Oge (meaning; beautiful and manipulative) were women who used seductive charms to bring down corrupt and powerful men from power and help restore ruling positions with women.
Their reign was cut short when elder people started noticing the influence of Oge in young girls through social outcry and rebelling against the patriarchal intimidation against women. Oges were tracked and arrested, prosecuted and sentenced.
Few of them made it out of the deep Atlantian trench onto the shores of Eko. Hence the influence of Oya in Yoruba folklore.
